Family: Heisman Trophy finisher Colt Brennan, former Hawaii QB, dies at 37


Colt Brennan died at the age of 37, a former Heisman Trophy Finalist and a record-breaking Hawaiian quarterback, his father told Tuesday Star-Advertiser.


Terry Brennan told the Star Advertiser his son was being found unconscious a few days ago and a patient was at a rehabilitation facility in California. Colt Brennan died in Newport, California, at Hoag Hospital, said Terry Brennan.


"He did it well, it sparked his eyes back, and he was good and good, and it happened," told Star-Advertiser Terry Brennan. "It just got away. It just got away. I can't explain it anymore."


His father told the paper that Colt Brennan who had been there five months had died peacefully with his family.

Brennan was a 2007 Heisman Trophy finalist, who drove the Rainbow Warriors to 12-1 for 4,343 yards and 38 touchdowns. His best season came in 2006 when he finished sixth in Heisman's election, with 5,549 yards and 58 TDs — both Tops in Division I.


Hawaii was offered a Sugar Bowl by Georgia in 2008.


In three seasons in Hawaii, Brennan was 131 TDs passing against 42 interceptions for 14.193 metres, the 9th in NCAA history from 1956. He continues to be the all-time record holder for the highest percentage in the history of FBS.


It was selected by the then-Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draught. He was in League for three years with the United Football League, the Canadian Football League and arena football league. He had never seen game actions with Washington, Baltimore and Oakland.


Brennan was arrested and charged with unregulated behaviour in his home in Kailua-Kona last November. Brennan had been arrested for disturbing himself and refusing to leave at the Kona Seaside Hotel in August 2020. In 2019, he was accused of DUI.


After a head-on collision that had caused him head, rib, and collarbon injuries, Brennan was hospitalised for eight days in 2010. He was his girlfriend's passenger on an SUV.
